Good day to all!

Q1. Where can I find the latest risk-averse indices for REKO-F for 6D, S17, DOA, DAS, LS, noRSA? Is this set of indices
http://www.qfit.com/book/ModernBlackjackPage248.htm  <=== still valid?

Q2. When (or what situations) should risk-averse indices be used instead of "regular" indices? I believe that REKO-F ONLY uses risk-averse. I'm asking about indices for counts like Hi-Lo, Red7, FELT-F, etc.

Q3. Can CVCX or CVData generate a "player hand vs dealer up-card" frequency ranking for the game? If yes, how do I do that?
[I would like to memorize the indices by frequency of occurrence, e.g., I18+Fab4, Frequent 40, Frequent 60, etc.]

Thanks very much,

I always have the same problem about creating a good strategy for my counting system, KISS III, which I use like it's said in the Fred Renzey Book who's the creator of it. So my rules are ENHC which isn't covered in the book and which in my opinion is a constant very bad rule because of loosing the complete bet's done and because it doesn't give any information to the player, a part from this DA2, DAS, ES10, 6D... And what I want to know is why Blackjackinfo creates a Strategy Chart which says to surrender 77 vs 10 and 88 vs 10, 15 vs 9, 15 vs 10,16 vs 10 against a lot of pages saying that splitting reduces more the disadvantage of loosing the hand than surrendering. Fred Renzey is not saying the same in the Advantage Strategy for KISS III which says that(starting from -12) I have to surrender 14 vs 10 at +4, 15 vs 9 at 0, 16 vs 9 at -9, 16 vs 10 at -21 and 88 vs 10 at -1...so I don't know which I have to follow playing against a ENHC,6D,DA2,DAS,ES10, Split 4 hands and resplit of all including Aces dealt from a CSM...
Anybody knows if using Ubalo count for -13+ it's possible to have an edge against a CSM? A friend of mine is playing these strategy and is having profit...

Is it true that if the rules are good enough, you could beat a single deck game with play alone (flat betting)?

I wonder if you have any charts or graphics that show this? (Norm?)

Are there still games out there where you can win with a minimal spread?

So it seems to be a common thing amongst cold, calculating APs to remove real emotion from their play, and to only show emotion that they...

So it seems to be a common thing amongst cold, calculating APs to remove real emotion from their play, and to only show emotion that they are faking. If we lose max bet after max bet in a hot shoe, we shouldn't be fazed, because we played it correctly and created +EV. Similarly, if we win several max bets in the same shoe, we shouldn't really care. The long run tells us that this big win will eventually even out, as expected return and actual return converge. But this seems incorrect to me.

We all play with some ROR. For some like me with small bankrolls, that might be 13% or higher. For others, especially professionals, it may be .5% or lower. Regardless, we all have a ROR, and if variance is nasty enough, it will destroy even the best of us. If, instead, we have positive variance, we are that much further from "ruin," and every step away from that ruin feels great. Therefore, max bet wins really are something to cheer about. Cheer, because negative variance passed you up today, and you are that much closer to your goal. A bad day, in contrast, puts you a step closer to ruin, and should make you, if only in the slightest, a bit nervous.

Don't get me wrong, too much emotion can be a real problem. We've all seen those gamblers who are having a bad day and decide to chase their losses, only to make that bad day a devastating and horrible day. This is the worst thing an AP could do. I just think that an appropriate level of emotion is necessary and healthy, and anybody who assures you otherwise is ignoring the fact that enough bad variance can ruin anybody.

If you are having a bad month and somebody tells you that you have no reason to be nervous if you are playing correctly, they are lying. I wish it wasn't, but ruin is a real thing. Playing correctly is the best you can do, true, but don't be afraid to step back and re-assess where you are.

Came across this interesting analysis on a case entitled Salinas v. Texas that was recently decided:
http://www.volokh.com/2013/06/17/do-...linas-v-texas/

Basically, the supreme court's ruling means that if a suspect is voluntarily/involuntarily speaking to police, even if they assert their 5th amendment rights against self-incrimination and wish to not answer any questions, the police can comment that the suspect's silence and/or invoking of their 5th amendment right is "indicating guilt."

IMO, a tragic and wrong decision.

Although forums can be useful at answering questions about books and other bodies of work, it has occurred to me that few authors...

Although forums can be useful at answering questions about books and other bodies of work, it has occurred to me that few authors participate in forums because they simply don’t have the time or patience to plow through thousands of posts to find something that particularly relates to them. So, I thought I’d try an experiment on our forum, as follows:

Authors and other recognized experts can sign up for a notification function. If someone has a question specific to an author, he can start a new thread with the author’s name in double square brackets at the start of the title. For example:

[[Revere]] Where can I get RAPC tables?

The software would look up the author’s e-mail and send him a notification including the title of the thread and a link to the thread. The poster would not see the e-mail address. The author can click to enter the site at that thread, and respond, or ignore it as he sees fit.

Some notes:

Yes, I realize Revere is a poor example as he probably won't respond.

Obviously there is some possibility of abuse. If authors are inundated with trivial e-mails, they will pull out. This function is for serious questions and to be used very sparingly. Not “are you still playing” or other chat type questions, nor nags about when the next release of something is coming.

The author is under no obligation to respond and a lack of response should not be taken as a slight. This is just a convenient method of notifying authors that a post may be of interest. Keep in mind that many of these people travel heavily and have lives of their own.

Abuse of this function will be taken seriously as the function directly contacts authors that may not be active members of the forum.

To reduce SPAM, only members that have made ten posts can use this function.

The fact that an author has been asked the question should not stop other members from answering.

This function can ONLY be used when creating a new thread, not a post within a thread.

It may take some time to get this feature running smoothly.

Following is a list of those that have signed up, along with the names that can be used. Use one of the names. Caps don’t matter and spaces and periods are ignored. But, the spelling must be exact.

I'm reading John Patrick's book "Blackjack for the 21s century (is this a good book to read?" And he has a very interesting yet thought-provoking chapter called "Reading Trends. He says he'll watch a table and wait for the dealer to go on a cold streak(3-4 bust cards in a row) before sitting down. Is this an accurate method? I thought it wouldn't be because the previous hands should have no effect on the future ones. Or is there some legitamacy to this approach? At no time does he mention card counting so that is out of the picture

I have an idea for a new variation of blackjack. If the dealer upcard is an ace, and after the insurance side bets are placed, the dealer checks for blackjack by flipping over the hole card for everyone to see. If the hole cars is a ten, then everyone without a blackjack loses and those who bet insurance are paid 2 to 1. If the hole card is not a ten, then the players who bet insurance lose their insurance side bet, and all players play against the current dealer hand, seeing both cards.

To compensate, players may split only once and may not double after split. Otherwise, it is the same.

What would be the basic strategy for this game, e.g., hard and soft standing totals, doubling totals, pair splits? What would be the house edge on this game?

I am new at BJ as well as this forum. Sorry for asking so many questions. I do have a few more noob questions:

Q1. Is FELT-F (Level 2) kinda close to the performance of Zen and Hi-Opt II (esp. on 6D, DAS, DOA, NS)?

Q2. I was looking at the different counts to see a possible path (from easy to high-performance). I initially wanted REKO-F+TCOB hybrid, then later upgrade to FELT or Zen. Then I noticed Red 7 but with twice the tag values (which I called "Red 14"). "FELT-H" is half the FELT tags.

Strat. --A- -2- -3- -4- -5- -6- -7- -8- -9- --T-

Can I start with "Red 7" as my "easy" unbalanced count (counting Red 7s as +1)? Then use FELT-H as my "high-performance" balanced count (later counting only Red 2s as +1 instead of all 2s)?

Q3. If I count the Red 2s and Red 7s as +1 instead of incrementing by 1/2 (for all 2s and 7s), what kind of performance will FELT-H have if I also halve the indices? Will it be close to FELT-F's performance?

Would you then consider FELT-H as a "suit-aware" Level-1 count like "Red 7" or "KISS 3"?

Q4. Which suit color stands out more to you, black or red?

Thanks,
MD

.

P.S. This might be an old idea to some of the experts. If it is, can you kindly point me to where I could get more info? Thanks!

Greetings-

I am a 12 year vet of BS blackjack with many hours logged in with about 30 trips to Vegas. I have recently read a couple of books by Snyder and Wong. I own/run a business and have a family so my time at the tables is now limited to a few days a year at this time purely for fun. In my single days I played extensively (due to room comps) and got lucky and enjoyed winning more than losing with pure BS with progressive betting (I know lol) I am looking to take my game up to a part-time professional level. Here is my potential game plan and would love input from the vets here whom I have great respect and admiration for...

I live a short flight from Vegas and would like to dedicate a monthly 4 day trip to Vegas. I would likely take a early am flight on Mondays and depart Thursday evenings. I would like to start with a bankroll of $20k which I am in the process of gathering (should have by the end of summer) and only play at green chip spread 1-6 dd, 1-12 shoe. Red 7 is the count I am most comfortable with. I would have no problem starting with red chips but from extensive reading believe green chip min should be utilized to access the best strip rules (S17 and surrender) I love surrender and prefer to play with it although it seems to not give large advantage. I seem to prefer shoe games for some odd reason so I guess in one way its better to avoid counter traps, and to use surrender lol.
My cover is good and I have had some experience of heat when pit crews thought I was counting due to probably winning too much (best weekend ever walked away up 18k from a 4 day weekend of casino hopping on the strip)- ahhh memories- I digress.

I guess my questions are how feasible does one with experience believe this to be, and what kind of ROR/hourly average am I looking at. Any suggestions and imput would be much appreciated. Thank you for your time.
I'm a noob, don't need all the crazy options and complex counts. Looking over apps available, many seem pretty sketchy and don't inspire confidence.
